"4 Minutes" actually flip-flops with Jordin Sparks' and Chris Brown's "No Air," a choon which, to be honest, is probably the best sleeper jam of 2008. After less-than-stunning initial sales of her album, who knew Jordin would pull back-to-back hits out of her wig, with "Tattoo" and "No Air"? Somewhere Ruben Studdard and Taylor Hicks are sobbing into their Wal-Mart aprons while "No Air" trickles out of the muzak system.
And, Jesus, people will spend 99 cents on anything -- speaking of former American Idol winners, Carrie Underwood's cover of George Michael's "Praying For Time," from the recent Idol Gives Back special, debuts at #27, while Daughtry's "What About Now" is the Hot Shot Debut at #18 and the American Idol Top 8 enter at #43 with "Shout To The Lord."
Why not test your patience with the original "Praying For Time" video, which I literally haven't seen since 1990:
While we're on the topic of George Michael, his hits compilation, Twentyfive, debuted on the album chart at #23 last week. But now it's dropped faster than George himself in front of a toothless farmhand at a highway truck stop to #96.
On a final note, remember Britney Spears' "Break The Ice"? Back on the Hot 100, it jumps from #60 to #46. Can you believe that bitch's latest album hasn't even been certified Gold yet?
