Miley Lands Fifth Top 10 Hit, Christina Aguilera's "You Lost Me" Should Be A Single

Looking over the Top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100 this week, it suddenly feels like it's 1999 all over again, when bubblegum acts ruled the land. Miley Cyrus debuts at #8 with "Can't Be Tamed," joining fellow pop tarts Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha and Rihanna. Even the Usher and Taio Cruz's jams have an "up" dance beat. And is it just me, or does Eminem's "Not Afraid" have the most boy band-sounding chorus out there right now?

Yes, all is right in the world, and La Roux must be feeling the magnetic draw to join their fellow pop brethren in the Top 10. This week "Bulletproof" moves up five positions to #14.

That brings us to the latest Xtina Watch update, where Christina Aguilera's "Not Myself Tonight"—now in its sixth week on the chart—drops from #57 to #73. That said, her Nicki Minaj-featuring "WooHoo," which was made available with pre-orders of Bionic last week on iTunes, debuts at #79.

Personally, despite all the naysaying about poor ol' Xtina, I thought she did a great job performing the Sia co-penned "You Lost Me" on the American Idol finale last night (after the Idols did a medley of "Beautiful/Fighter"):

Sigh. If only Aguilera had shelved any notions of going the dirrty whore route out of the gate this time around, accepted that she's a balladeer and just released "You Lost Me" as her first single—we might actually see her listed below right now! (Are you paying attention, Mariah Carey?)
