Lee DeWyze Wins 'American Idol,' World Braces Itself For Milquetoast Cover Of "Beautiful Day"

Last week I said my money was on 24-year-old Illinois paint clerk Lee DeWyze winning American Idol over Crystal Bowersox, and, well—no surprise—it's the third year in a row a guitar-strummin' white dude was crowned the king of this show. Good for Lee, though. He really does look like every frat guy I went to college with. And that gets me kind of hot.

No, I think the real shocker was the point where all the former Idol winners (minus David Cook) came out to sing "We Are One" to Simon Cowell (who's departing the series after nine seasons to head up the American version of The X Factor)—and we got a camera-adds-140-lbs. glimpse of Kelly Clarkson.

Much love for Kelly, but damn, girl—I honestly didn't recognize her at first.

Anyway, congrats, Lee. Can't wait till your your crappy cover of U2's "Beautiful Day" (already on iTunes!) charts at #17 and then never makes it onto your album this November.
