Welcome To 'Glee' And Owl City Mania, England

Owl City crash into the U.K. singles chart this week at #2 with "Fireflies," which previously threw me for a d'luvvly loop when it managed to top the U.S. chart in the fall. Still not sure if this guy will wind up being a one-hit wonder, but here in the States, his album Ocean Eyes—which is being re-released in two-disc deluxe version form a week from Tuesday—has been certified Gold.

Another American phenom from '09 makes waves in the Brit chart this week, as the Glee cast version of "Don't Stop Believin'" debuts at #5. It's the big climactic number in the series' pilot episode, where the show choir geeks decide to trudge on, despite their instructor abandoning them for a new job and opposition from just about everyone else in the school:

Brings a tear to the eye, no? Oh, and P.S., Artie, the character in the wheel chair, is played by Kevin McHale, former member of the boy band NLT.

Meanwhile, the original Journey version of "Don't Stop Believin'" hangs in at #6, The Saturday's drop to #14 with "Ego" after one week in the Top 10 and JLS debut at #32 with "One Shot." (See the music video here.)

I'm off to enjoy the last sunny day before a solid week of rain hits Los Angeles. Ciao!
