Pet Shop Boys Wanted To Duet With Tina Turner On 'Yes'

Below is an interesting intereview the Pet Shop Boys have put YouTube, where they talk about making new album Yes. In their conversation they mention that they'd originally intended the track "The Way It Used To Be" as a duet with Tina Turner.

Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe also discuss the process of recording with Xenomania. Apparently "Love etc." was intended as a song for Brian Higgins' own project he was working on, but Chris really wanted it for their album because, as Neil says, it just seemed like "an obvious hit."

Perhaps because of this, Neil says Higgins insisted "Love etc." be the first single off Yes, even before the album was completed.

Of course, if you're like me and ordered the good ol'-fashioned 2-part "Love etc." CD single off Amazon UK, you no doubt by now know that it's out of stock—as it is apparently everywhere in England.

I even got an e-mail from Amazon yesterday stating that they were trying to locate copies, and then asking if I even still wanted the single!

Yes is released in the UK on Monday (and hopefully won't have the same distribution problems as the single) and the U.S. April 21. Don't forget to read my full track-by-track review of the album over on Towleroad.
