Just FYI, Jomanda's 'Got A Love For You' Is Brilliant

Between a virtual Twitter round table on '90s music last night and XO's new post on his 30 Essential Albums from that decade, I got to thinking about this compilation of female R&B jams from that era I'd made about two years ago. I threw the "Hurley House Mix" of Jomanda on there, and remember iTunes not having the trio's full Someone To Love Me album at the time.

Witness the stunning radness of "Got A Love For You":

Oh, Steve "Silk" Hurley, you really did define the sound of clubland for that brief moment in time. "Got A Love For You" (which sadly only peaked at #40 on the Hot 100) will forever remind me of riding through Pittsburgh in my friend Laura's brand new yellow Geo Storm on warm summer nights in 1991.

And now, lo and behold, both Jomanda's Someone To Love Me and their 1993 follow up, Nubia Soul, are on iTunes and Amazon's MP3 store.

Says iTunes: "Like Someone To Love Me, the slightly inferior Nubia Soul gives the impression that with the right A&R, the right material and the right production, Jomanda could have been outstanding instead of merely good."
