One to Watch - Jessie J

We featured Jessie J on the UK Chart watch a few weeks ago and have noticed her rapidly climbing the charts here in Oz as well, currently sitting at No.2 in the iTunes chart, so lets understand more about this 22year old bisexual singer/songwriter.

Its not the first time this UK lass has been involved with the music industry. Jessica Ellen Cornish aka Jessie J, first joined girl group Soul Deep at the age of 17, but with little success she was ventured down the avenue of songwriting gaining a Sony ATV publishing contract. Writing for the likes of Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus, the most successful being the massive ex Disney hit Party In the USA got her further noticed in the music industry. (Still not a great track by our standards but that could be because it was sung by wanna-be cool/an adult Cyrus – oh she does annoy us!)

We digress.

Jessie J was signed to Island Records and began recording her recent released album Who We Are, which has been 6 years in the making according to JJ. In late 2010, Jessie J released her first single, Do It Like a Dude peaking at No.2 in the UK charts, followed by winning the BBC Sounds poll for most promising new artist of the year and the Critic’s choice at this years Brit Awards.

Her more recent offering Price Tag featuring B.o.B, scored the No.1 spot in the UK Charts in late January 2011, remaining there for 2 weeks and was just released here in Australia currently at No.2 in the ARIA charts.

Her edgy style, frank lyrics and open and honest persona, will see this girl go far this year.

So what’s next for this old school friend of Adele? Yep they went to school together!

With her album currently riding the ARIA charts at No.20 and is touring the U.S trying to break the American charts, this openly bisexual girl, saying in a radio interview "I've never denied it. Whoopee-doo guys, yes, I've dated girls and I've dated boys - get over it," is definitely One to Watch!

Who You Are is available for download now via iTunes.
