Since Kelly Clarkson announced that her album won’t be released to September, more details have been coming forward which have left us at SCP HQ slightly confused as to what to expect from the original American Idol.
Firstly describing the album as "Garbage-meets-pop-meets-Muse" the singer has also said that she's been influenced by some of music's greats, including Prince, Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin.
Hang on…
Garbage meet pop (Gotch ya)
Add Muse (OK)
Mixed with essence of Prince (Thinking Purple Rain)
A dash of Tina Turner (Proud Mary?)
Served with a slice of Aretha Franklin (Gotta be Respect)
= A very weird mash up, we just can’t get our head round!
She followed this up by updating her Facebook stating "This album was influenced by Prince, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, Radiohead and there's a little bit of a country vibe/influence on a couple of songs."
Hang on, where did Garbage & Muse go?
Then stating one of her favorite cuts on the CD was "highly influenced" by soul icons Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin and that it was penned by singer/songwriter Eric Hutchinson. "The album is gonna be a great pop record! I can't wait for ya'll to hear it!" said Ms Clarkson
We’ll take you word for it Kelly, but until we hear it, we have no idea what’s coming to be honest?
Sony Music have release a statement saying they are "All excited about Kelly's new album and are looking forward to announcing the exact release date soon"
Wonder if they are just buying time to write the press release to cover the entire list of artist’s she’s influenced by for this record?
According to MTV.com, songwriter Claude Kelly has been revealing some further details about what we will hear once the album in released in September, he said that Ms Kelly would be back bigger and better than ever.
"We’ve been working on some fun up-tempo tracks for the album. The songs I did write for her were in true Kelly Clarkson form, singer records that showcase her voice, but also show her edge and her attitude and her personality," he explained. "[It's] always up-tempo for me when it comes to Kelly. I like to hear her in kick-butt mode. She has an edge to her voice that you want to hear her sing high and get in your face."
Though slightly confused, what ever Kelly has to offer, we be there ready to sing along to the Pop/Rock/Soul/Punk/Country/R&B/edgy/up-tempo/in your face LP thats on its way!
Until then, here is one of our favourite Kelly tracks.
