Beyoncé Is...Annoying

If you were a boy, I'd kick you in the nuts for being such a dumbass and calling your album I Am...Sasha Fierce, stripper.

That said, "If I Were A Boy" is kind of a groovy slow jam, and seeing it jump from #68 to #3 on Billboard's Hot 100 makes me...well, okay, there's really nothing else to mention this week—other than Adele's "Chasing Pavements" debuting at #82—so yay, Beyoncé, etc.

Ultimately, it'll be interesting to see how her upcoming double album performs in these times when albums are by and large being met with disappointing returns. Will she be like Alicia Keys last year this time—huge lead single, decent sales during the holidays, then a complete disappearing act?

Fingers crossed?

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "Whatever You Like" - T.I. *7 weeks*
2. "Live Your Life" - T.I. feat. Rihanna *airplay gainer*
3. "If I Were A Boy" - Beyoncé
4. "So What" - Pink
5. "Womanizer" - Britney Spears
6. "Hot N Cold" - Katy Perry
7. "Let It Rock'" - Kevin Rudolf feat. Lil Wayne
8. "Miss Independent" - Ne-Yo
9. "Disturbia" - Rihanna
10. "I'm Yours'" - Jason Mraz *sales gainer*

Hilary Duff's New Video For "Reach Out" Takes Things A Little Too Lightly

The Best Of Hilary Duff is out on Tuesday, which is interesting since there's only been one album between this and her last hits compilation. Sounds like Hollywood Records is looking to drop her after the hastily slapped-together release.

Meanwhile, there are only 12 tracks...why bother?

Below is the video for Hilary's new single "Reach Out." Whoever was in charge of lighting her and setting up the awkward camera angles should be forced to watch the video on repeat for six weeks.

Oh, and Jamelia called; she wants her "Personal Jesus" sample back.

David Archuleta Is Looking A Bit, Uh, Inappropriate These Days

David Archuleta's album was put of for pre-order on iTunes this week, and as an incentive, you get his cover of Robbie Williams' "Angels" if you buy now. This self-titled trash is out November 11.

And before you even ask, hell no am I getting this shit! It's highly doubtful anything as classy as "Crush" will be on there.

Speaking of which, my second Daily Beast recommendation—a review of Archuleta's "Crush"—was posted yesterday. Quite frankly, that site was under-using the term "cougar, so they're just lucky I came along.

A few other random iTunes observations:
  • 1. Can you believe Snow Patrol (#3) and Lady GaGa's (#4) albums are currently outselling Pink (#14)?
  • 2. So is Toby Keith!
  • 3. The Sam Taylor-Wood/Pet Shop Boys single "I'm In Love With A German Film Star" and its remixes are available at the U.S. iTunes store.

Pet Shop Boys Reveal New Album, Single Info

The online music community is simply shooting glitter out every orifice over the previously mentioned "The Loving Kind," which is the Pet Shop Boys' contribution to the new Girls Aloud album. Much (all?) of the Girls' album leaked over the weekend.

The Boys also posted this information on their website today: "It is anticipated that the recording and mixing of the new Pet Shop Boys' album will be completed in November and that it will be released in March 2009. A single, probably a song co-written with Xenomania called 'Love etc.', will be released prior to the album."

Meanwhile, Neil Tennant took the above photos from inside the Xenomania studio as the Pet Shop Boys wrap up their album. It's the female and male backing singers laying down their vocal tracks.

But, what's this? On the far left of the men, it's none other than Saint Etienne's Bob Stanley!

Xenomania honcho Brian Higgins has collaborated with SE on several occasions, and currently in the U.K. there's a single out for the band's "Xenomania Mix" update of their 1997 track "Burnt Out Car" (originally produced by Higgins). As well, Xenomania produced "Stars Above Us" and "Lightning Strikes Twice" on Saint Etienne's last album, Tales From Turnpike Place.

When Chart Rigger And 'High School Musical' Broke Up

This weekend High School Musical 3: Senior Year earned $42 million at the U.S. box office. It was the first (and final...?) installment of the series to be released in movie theaters. (The prior two had aired on the Disney Channel). And, perhaps surprisingly, this is the first mention of the film here on Chart Rigger.

In late January 2006, I got swept up in the lightning-in-a-bottle HSM phenom after the first movie aired and the soundtrack became a surprise smash. Chart Rigger was riddled with posts throughout the rest of that year about the movie, the DVD release, the singles that charted, info about the sequel—and "Breaking Free" even topped CR's "Best Of 2006" list.

Readers would e-mail and say they'd gotten hooked on the Zac Efron/Vanessa Hudgens musical lovefest all because of the enthusiastic blogging here back then.

Yeah, then the second movie aired on the Disney Channel last year, and it sucked hard. I'd watched the original movie about 10 times on DVD. As for HSM2, I caught it the night it premiered, then never again. Guess that explains the overall lack of interest for the third movie.

And so today rolled around, and the ball and chain and I were taking a Sunday drive. Rather impromtu, we were like, "Well, we could go see High School Musical 3...I guess?"

By the time we arrived at the theater, there was a line around the block with 200 screeching kiddies.

So we went to see Quarantine instead. There's a pretty cool part in that one where a five-year-old girl chews her mom's face off.

I "The Promise" Not To Trash Girls Aloud Today

There's a popular misconception that D'luv thinks Girls Aloud are a mangy pack of Z-grade dames with all the talent of a dead whore baking in the sun and decomposing on a rock at the beach.

But 'tis not so!

Ever since their magnificent single "Call The Shots" made it to Chart Rigger's "Best of the Year" list last December, I've warmed up to these strippers.

And while their new jam "The Promise" doesn't come close to "Call The Shots," it nevertheless tops the U.K. chart this week, ironically the same week the similarly '60s-influenced "Girls" by Sugababes gets bumped out of the Top 10.

All in all, "The Promise" is the Girls' 19th single, and their fourth U.K. #1—the last of which was the godawful "Walk This Way" duet with Sugababes.

Elsewhere, there's the 2008 update of Guru Josh's "Infinity" at #3...but, you know—NEEEXT!

The U.K. Top 10:

1. "The Promise" - Girls Aloud *1 week*
2. "So What" - Pink
3. "Infinity 2008" - Guru Josh Project *new*
4.
"Sex On Fire" - Kings Of Leon
5. "Wire To Wire'" - Razorlight *new*
6. "Up'" - The Saturdays
7. "Hot N Cold" - Katy Perry
8. "Love Lockdown" - Kanye West
9. "Raindrops (Encore Une Fois)" - Sash feat. Stunt
10. "The Winner's Song" - Geraldine

Can Kevin Rudolf Move Any Mountain?

One of this fall's most perplexing singles has been Kevin Rudolf's "Let It Rock," which also features Lil Wayne and has gone on to chart at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 without anyone really knowing much about the singer.

It kind of reminds me of those type of one hit wonder jams that come along once or twice a decade; ones which are catchy, transcend the typical love or party subject matter and are ultimately a tad bit weird (in a good way)—a la The Shamen's "Move Any Mountain" or The New Radicals' "You Get What You Give."

Going to Rudolf's MySpace not only nearly crashed my computer, but didn't turn up any photos other than the single cover for "Let It Rock." However, A bit of digging reaveals that—like Ryan Tedder/OneRepublic—Kevin Rudolf was given his big break after meeting Timbaland, who had him play guitar on some of his productions (including Nelly Furtado's "Say It Right").

He's now singed to hip hop label Cash Money Records, and his album In The City—which he wrote and produced himself except for one songis out November 25.

Anyway, here's the video for "Let It Rock," and also the one for The Shamen's 1991 hit "Move Any Mountain," which I think "Let It Rock" kind of sounds like a bit:

Jennifer Hudson's Mother And Brother Murdered

UPDATED: On a sad note: Reports are coming out that a 57-year-old woman and 29-year-old man at a house owned by Jennifer Hudson's mother have been shot to death. While it's not confirmed It has now been confirmed that the victims are indeed Darnell Donerson and Jason Hudson, that's the speculation.

Says MTV News:
Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother died of fatal gunshot wounds Friday, police have confirmed to MTV News.

A Chicago police representative said the singer's mother, Darnell Hudson Donerson, and older brother, Jason, were killed. Donerson was 57 years old; Jason was 29.

Officers received a call shortly before 3 p.m. Friday (October 24), the representative said, and upon arriving at the residence, 7019 South Yale Avenue, found the two victims. The incident has been declared a double homicide; police emphasized that this may be a domestic situation.

Julian King, Hudson's young nephew, who had been living at the residence, has been reported missing. Chicago police confirmed to MTV News that the child may be in the company of identified suspect William Balfour, an African-American male in his late 20s, who is considered armed and dangerous. King may be wearing khaki pants and a tan polo shirt with the number 5 on it, according to ABC News; the Chicago Tribune reported that he is 5 feet tall, weighs 135 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair.

SATURDAY UPDATE (from CNN):

William Balfour, a man suspected in the deaths and named in an Amber Alert issued Friday, was arrested Friday but had not been charged, law enforcement sources told the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times.

Police spokeswoman Monique Bond, who declined to comment Saturday on a suspect, said no one had been charged. She has said investigators were talking to "a number of people in custody."

On Saturday, neighbors and friends gathered outside the Hudson home and planned to scour the neighborhood to look for the child.

"We need to find that kid by sundown," said Ziff Sistrunk, a friend of the Hudson family.

Bond said the FBI had been called to help in the search for the boy on "the possibility or any theory that he could have been take across state lines." But, she added, "We have nothing to prove that."

Take That's 'The Circus' Album Cover: "This Is How Much Sex We've Had"

Golly, Take That, in some ways, you've come such a long way since 1992's Take That & Party. And yet, there you are, still flailing your arms about on the cover of upcoming December release The Circus.

That new cover says to me, "Our d***s are thiiiis big!" Or, "Hey, this is how much sex we've all had...with each other."

Speaking of which, that brings to mind this classy passage from Gary Barlow's autobiography, My Take:
"[1994] ...Life in Take That was slowly but surely becoming unbearable. I was even beginning to tire of the unending menu of girls. It was beginning to feel like it had less and less to do with me, as if it was taking me away from who I was. You name it, I'd tried it, all varieties, every scenario, things I can't write about here—I've got kids now!

There was no effort in it, no chatting them up, not even for five minutes, but there was always some girl who'd come up and say, 'Take me back with you.' I wouldn't even spend the night with them—I wanted a good night's sleep. You'd get them back to your room, do the business, and then say, 'Right, out.' I'd started off polite but now I couldn't be bothered."
Well, it's easy to see where the inspiration for all those romantic ballads came from...

T.I.red

By all, means, T.I., let everyone get out of the way so your damn "Whatever You Like" garbage can spend another week at #1!

Thrice has "Whatever You Like" been interrupted during its stint atop the chart in the past month—by Pink's "So What," T.I.'s own "Live Your Life" and Britney Spears' "Womanizer." Resitance seems to be futile, however.

Meanwhile, when Christina Aguilera woke up this morning, started slathering on the war paint then got the call that "Keeps Gettin' Better" has flizz-opped down to #27 in its third week on the Hot 100, she probably shrieked in three octaves and accidentally jammed her Lipfusion Beach Baby Bling stick through her eyesocket. Dirrty!

On the album chart, Keane's Perfect Symmetry debuts at #7 with sales of 43,000. It's probably fair to say that at this point, when no LP released this year has sold more than two million copies, the album as we know it is no longer a saleable commodity.

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "Whatever You Like" - T.I. *6 weeks*
2. "Live Your Life" - T.I. feat. Rihanna *airplay gainer*
3. "So What" - Pink
4. "Womanizer" - Britney Spears
5. "Hot N Cold" - Katy Perry
6. "Disturbia" - Rihanna
7. "Let It Rock'" - Kevin Rudolf feat. Lil Wayne
8. "Miss Independent" - Ne-Yo
9. "Fearless'" - Taylor Swift *new* *hot shot debut*
10. "Can't Believe It'" - T-Pain feat. Lil Wayne

Take That's "Greatest Day" Video In A Nutshell

Take That's video for "Greatest Day" premiered today. And since it keeps getting pulled from YouTube, here it is in a rapid play-by-play. (The clip is also posted below—watch while it lasts!)

The That basically stand on the roof of a Los Angeles skyscraper. They emote and rapidly vibrate—apparently they've got the music in them.

For some reason, L.A. is portrayed in this video as some post-Apocalyptic, Bedlam-looking hell. Oh, wait...

A bunch of pollen flies around in the air and Gary Barlow starts sneezing. I know, Gary, the Santa Anas get me every year, too.

Finally, the West Coast sun is too much for the lads' pale English skin, and they spontaneously combust.

Either that or they realized this song is no "Rule The World," and they're like, "Yeah, later..."

Here's the vid for "Greatest Day":

Will Chris Brown And Keri Hilson's "Superhuman" Be As Big As "No Air"?

There's no doubt that Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown's "No Air" was a giant hit and a breath of said fresh air that not only propelled Sparks to another level far above some of her previous American Idol winner contemporaries, but also revived the good ol' fashioned ballad, as well.

So now Jive is officially promoting "Superhuman," Brown's duet with Keri Hilson—i.e., the singer on Timbaland's "The Way I Are"—as his latest single off Exclusive.

Like "No Air," it employs the traditional melodic structure of an '80s-type ballad (soaring vocals, fancy harmonizing) and features the required angst-ridden emoting and clutching of each other's designer clothing during drama-tinged moments.

And while it's not immediately catchy upon first listen, there's something just sappy enough about the tune that taps into your inner lighter-waving dork.

"Superhuman" might not be up there with classy duets of yore like "Next Time I Fall," "After All" or, well, any other one featuring Peter Cetera...but it could just be the next "No Air."

VIDEO: Sam Taylor-Wood's Pet Shop Boys Single Finally Released Next Week

The Sam Taylor-Wood cover of the Passions' "I'm In Love With A German Film Star" (produced by the Pet Shop Boys) will finally be released next week by small German indie label Kompact Records.

I first posted about this back in February—so was it worth the wait?

Below is the video, which features artist Wood decked out like Marlene Dietrich...if you watch close, she blinks!

Also, a clip of the original version from 1981 is next to it:

Gary Barlow, Keane And The Saturdays Have A Bloody Good Week

Well, one of those Gary Barlow-penned singles I mentioned last month"The Winners Song"—charts this week in the U.K. at #2, as performed by "Geraldine," Brit comedian Peter Kay's drag character on his two-hour special Britain's Got the Pop Factor ... and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice (which featured Pete Waterman as a judge).

In a bit of an ironic twist, just behind the reality-show-mocking Geraldine single on the chart is last year's X Factor winner Leon Jackson, who debuts at #3 with "Don't Call This Love." Should Jackson look this boffable with his new haircut? Hmmmm....

Also, besting the #8 chart placing of their debut single "If This Is Love" back in early August, The Saturdays return with "Up," which goes in at an impressive #5. This is what this new contenders for the British girl group throne needed to do to make a case for longevity. Let's see how the gal's album Chasing Lights does upon its release next week.

And speaking of which, Keane's Perfect Symmetry debuts atop the Brit album chart this week. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Boyzone's Back Again—No Matter What, which settles for a #4 placing. Sorry, Ronan Keating...next time maybe drop your shorts on the record cover if you want us to buy your reheated collection of low rent dirges.

The U.K. Top 10:

1. "So What" - Pink *3 weeks*
2. "The Winner's Song" - Geraldine *new*
3. "Don't Call This Love" - Leon Jackson *new*
4.
"Sex On Fire" - Kings Of Leon
5. "Up'" - The Saturdays *new*
6. "Take Back The City" - Snow Patrol
7. "Miss Independent" - Ne-Yo
8. "Disturbia" - Rihanna
9. "Raindrops (Encore Une Fois)" - Sash feat. Stunt *new*
10. "Girls" - Sugababes

R.I.P. Levi Stubbs

This makes me extremely sad. Well, the Dateline tribute video from Friday night that I posted here got taken down, but...

Four Tops frontman Levi Stubbs passed away at age 72 Friday, and admittedly, I cried like a baby when I found out. The two clips I've posted below really show that not only could Stubbs blow any of today's manufactured pop singers out of the water when singing live (the "Reach Out I'll Be There" vid), but Motown probably will never be matched in its structuring of simplistic, catchy hooks.

Levi Stubbs always had one of the most memorable voices in pop, and I can't imagine my teenage summers without having on the Pittsburgh oldies station while driving around listening to the Four Tops.

And, of course, Little Shop Of Horrors (the movie) just wouldn't have been the same without him!

In 1991, after discovering the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" in my parents' old 45s, I infamously swore off modern pop to my friends and told them I was only going to listen to Motown for the rest of my life. That lasted for about three days.

Luckily I got to see the Four Tops twice in concert before Stubbs retired.

Goodnight, Levi :*(

D'luv Is A Beast

It's a great honor to have been asked to contribute to Tina Brown's (former Vanity Fair and New Yorker editor and all around media maestro) new online magazine The Daily Beast.

My first contribution to DB's "Buzz Board"—a review of Keane's Perfect Symmetry—went up yesterday.

I've still not gotten my head around being featured alongside the likes of Bill Clinton, Bret Ratner, Reverand Al Sharpton and one of my biggest heroes, Al Gore. I hope you'll check it out!

Also, new Towleroad column is up now.

Robyn's Umpteenth Single "Dream On"

Below is the video for Robyn's next single, "Dream On"—this time billed as Christian Falk featuring Robyn & Ola Salo. The track appeared in its original form on Falk's album two years ago...and if I'm not mistaken, a new mix was tacked on to the American release of Robyn's album this past spring, no? To be honest, who can keep track of how many damn singles this broad has thrown out there?

Put a new damn album out! Okay, here's the vid:

Beyoncé Will Sing 'TRL's Final Number

Beyoncé showed up to MTV's Total Request Live earlier this week to premiere her two new videos for "If I Were A Boy" and "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)." She also announced that she'll perform on the show's two-hour final episode, Total Finale Live, which airs November 16 at 8 p.m.

Surprisingly, she mentioned to host Damien Fahey on the show that her new album I Am... doesn't feature any collaborations with other artists. Unsurprisingly, she was sporting that jacked-up weave.

She also says half of the album has acoustic guitar in the songs, like "If I Were A Boy."

Here's Beyoncé on TRL the other day:

So which do you like better: "If I Were A Boy" or "Single Ladies"?

Two New Videos From The Killers And Keane That Don't Live Up To The Songs

Below are the low key videos for The Killers' "Human" and Keane's "The Lovers Are Leaving."* Great songs, snoozy clips.

(Note: The Keane video starts at about 2:24 in. This was the only version where the embedding code wasn't disabled.)

Brandon Flowers is wearing the same feathered frock he had on during the Killers' Saturday Night Live performance.

He probably sleeps in that drag.

Britney Spears Has Her Second #1 Hit, And It Only Took 10 Years + Five Meltdowns To Get There

This year has seen the return of pop to the upper reaches of the U.S. charts like no other in this decade—from Rihanna to Pink to Chris Brown and now Britney Spears.

Oh, Britney. What a long haul its been for you. And to think, last year you were gooned out of your mind with a shaved head, a pink wig and slimebags like Sam Lufti and Adnan Ghalib ramming your cookie.

It's strange to think that "Womanizer" has become only the second single for Britney to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Ironically, we're one week shy, to the day, of when "...Baby One More Time"—her debut single and first #1—was released in the U.S. ten years ago.

I can vividly recall the day I stood in Walden Books reading Billboard in August 1998 and saw a small article on a 16-year-old American girl named Britney Spears who'd flown to Sweden to record songs with Max Martin. I just kind of figured "...Baby One More Time" would be another flop in the already overcrowded market of pop music at the time.

By January 1999, Britney was #1. Ten years later, does D'luv wish another song of hers had gone to the top somewhere along the way...something other than "Womanizer"? Sure.

In fact, "Stronger" and "Born To Make You Happy" are the be-all and end-all Britney songs in my book.

But to be honest, I've sort of given up resisting "Womanizer." I've played it enough times where it's been ingrained into my mind. It's like a surgeon took a scalpel, sliced open my forehead and rammed the lyrics into my brain matter using a plunger.

Now I walk around listening to it on my iPod with a little extra skip in my step, bobbing my head up and down and salivating into a cup. Hush, just stop. There's nothing you can do or say.

The track impressively made a record jump from #96—where it debuted last week on airplay alone—after digital sales of 286,000.

So congratulations, Britney; when all is said and done, we probably really couldn't have heralded the return of pop without you.

On the flip side, Christina Aguilera might wanna pop an extra Xanax today—"Keeps Gettin' Better" debuted strongly enough at #7 last week, but now drops to #17.

And while I'm on a roll admitting things, is it wrong that I kind of like Leona Lewis' "Better In Time" (which climbs to #11)? Maybe just a little?

Keep bleeding, luvs.

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "Womanizer" - Britney Spears *1 week*
2. "Whatever You Like" - T.I. *sales gainer*
3. "Live Your Life" - T.I. feat. Rihanna *airplay gainer*
4. "So What" - Pink

Is Another Ace Of Base Greatest Hits Necessary?

This classy release, Ace Of Base's Greatest Hits, Classic Remixes And Music Videos—not to be confused, mind you, with Ace Of Base's Singles Of The 90s, Greatest Hits (2000), The Collection/All That She Wants, Platinum & Gold Collection or Ultimate Collection—is out November 10 in, well, probably countries that aren't anywhere near the U.S.

The compilation only contains 16 of the Base's singles in their original form (no "Living In Danger"??) and the second of the three discs has a bunch of snoozy remixes. However, it does contain "Wheel Of Fortune 2009," which sounds just as groovy in its studio version as it did in the live version posted here in January.

The third disc is music videos.

It's kind of hard not to feel like it would have best to just release the two new mixes as singles and then—hey, here's a strange idea—release a new album of original material.

Oops!...Jive Did It Again: "Womanizer" Gets Taken Off iTunes

Well, okay, Jive Records didn't do it at all, but I digress...

According to apparently well-informed Britney Spears fan site Britney.com, "Womanizer"—the top iTunes download for the past week—has been removed from the online store today due to "a glitch."

"Jive is looking into this problem as we speak, and they're working to get it resolved ASAP," says the site.

"Womanizer" is on track to selling over 250,000 downloads by the close of the Billboard chart tallying. One more day will determine whether if it becomes her second U.S. #1, after 1999's "....Baby One More Time."

In the meantime, since Britney's gone AWOL, T.I. and Rihanna's "Live Your Life"—the current chart topper on Billboard's Hot 100— has reclaimed the top position on iTunes.

UPDATE: (10:41 p.m.) She's back on there.

Take That To Take On Britney Spears

They haven't had a release here in the U.S. since their 1996 greatest hits collection, but nonetheless, Brit man band Take That's upcoming fifth studio album was mixed here in L.A., and the video for first single "Greatest Day" was shot here, too.

These shots were taken during the "Greatest Day" video shoot. Catch the song—which premiered on Chris Moyles' U.K. Radio 1 show today—below.

Initial thoughts:
  1. Not their most immediately-catchy song.
  2. "Rule The World" may have set the bar too high for them.
  3. Even "Patience" was a tough act to follow.
  4. Gary, call me!
Also, perhaps in one of the most Oh, no, they didn't!! pop moments this year, the That are not only releasing the "Greatest Day" single the same day as (the CD single for) Britney Spears' "Womanizer" in the U.K., but TT and Britney's albums will also be out the same day—and they're both called Circus! (Though, technically, Take That's is The Circus.)

Meanwhile, the American Take That Fanclub created a petition to get Polydor's U.S. parent company to release "Greatest Day" in the States.

Off Topic: The 'Twilight' Zone

Photos courtesy VMan.

A little over a year ago, I was at a friend's house and they urged me to read this "teenage vampire romance novel"—about an alienated girl who falls for a bloodsucker in a suburban Washington state high school—called Twilight.

The ball and chain flew through it in two days, then read the second and third books in the series by the week's end. I read the first one, and while not completely overwhelmed, appreciated the horror aspects of it all.

As the months went by, it was somewhat intriguing to find that Brit actor Robert Pattinson—who D'luv had d'lust for way back in his days as Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter movies—was cast as main vampire Edward Cullen in the feature film.

Also interesting is that the very first company I worked for upon moving to L.A. nine years ago, Summit Entertainment, is producing the film.

Christ, when I worked there, the classiest shit they did was distribute American Pie and Blair Witch Project overseas, and make godawful straight-to-video garbage like Kill The Man, starring Luke Wilson.

Meanwhile, now that the release of the latest Harry Potter flick has been pushed to next summer, Twilight has been moved up to Potter's original Thanksgiving weekend release date.

Here's the newest trailer:

It's crazy to see the huge cult following of Twilight spill over into the mainstream just within the past year.

Sugababes Rise As Boyzone And Oasis Drop Faster Than You Can Say "McFly!"

"The Shock Of The Lightning"? More like the shock of Oasis charting at #3 last week in the U.K., then dropping to #16. (Ironically, that single has been getting major airplay on multiple stations here in Los Angeles.)

The same goes for the returning Boyzone, whose comeback single "I Love You Anyway" debuted at a so-so #5, but now falls to #13.

Between this and the failure of New Kids On The Block to chart a major hit single with their own foray into the mainstream once again, maybe the window of opportunity for '90s-band comebacks shut down hard about two years ago, after Take That managed to wriggle through.

Granted, the New Kids are embarking on a sold-out reunion tour. But the Spice Girls proved last year that a successful trek across the globe doesn't necessarily translate into chart success the second time around.

Ah, well...at least Pink racks up a second week at the top. Plus, Sugababes climb up to #3 with "Girls." Thus far, those broads' only other single to peak at #3 has been "Ugly," back in December 2005.

The U.K. Top 10:

1. "So What" - Pink *2 weeks*
2. "Sex On Fire" - Kings Of Leon
3. "Girls" - Sugababes
4.
"Disturbia" - Rihanna
5. "Never Miss A Beat'" - Kaiser Chiefs *new*
6. "Miss Independent" - Ne-Yo
7. "I Kissed A Girl" - Katy Perry
8. "When I Grow Up" - Pussycat Dolls
9. "Cookie Jar" - Gym Class Heroes feat. The Dream
10. "In This City" - Iglu & Hartly

Britney Spears' "Womanizer" Video Is Pretty Goddamn Classy

Okay, D'luv hasn't been showing the love for the song, but the video for "Womanizer" —wherein Britney Spears sits her ass on a photocopy machine, xeroxes her butt and then later drives a limo with just her stilletto heel—is completely trashtastic.

Come to think of it, Britney should drive like that more often...maybe she'd get into less accidents.

Plus, that chorus makes me realize what an idiot savant she really is. You try singing "Boy, don't try to front, I-I know just-just what you are, ah-ah!" three times in a row. It's near impossible.

Anyway, without further adieu, here's "Womanizer":

...or at least here it is till it gets yanked from YouTube. Well, that didn't take long–let's try this one.

Now It All Makes Sense Why MTV Gave Britney Spears Three VMAs

Rihanna Scores Her Fifth #1 While Christina Aguilera Debuts In The Top 10

These are the weeks that give D'luv the tingles in his whizz-wack; the weeks where a big sledgehammer of new releases comes along and busts things up on Billboard's Hot 100.

First up, T.I. replaces himself at #1 with "Live Your Life," a duet with Rihanna. Not only did the song set a record by jumping from #80 to #1—thanks to T.I.'s Paper Trail being released last week—but it also gives Rihanna her fifth U.S. #1, and T.I. his third.

Next up is Christina Aguilera, who achieves her seventh solo U.S. Top 10 hit with "Keeps Gettin' Better," which debuts at #7. I like the dancey direction you're returning to, Xtina. Don't fuck this next album up, now, doll.

Nickelback debut at #10 with with "Gotta Be Somebody." Looks like all the Z-grade, Bush supporting hicks who pick cigarette butts out of a dumpster and shove them up their asses are still multiplying, and their spawn have iTunes accounts. Hooray for white trash!

The Killers enter the chart at #32 with "Human," giving them their third U.S. Top 40 single after "Mr. Brightside" (#10, 2005) and "When You Were Young" (#14, 2006). The cover art for the band's upcoming Day & Age album was unveiled yesterday.

Oh, yeah...how could I forget David Cook's run-of-the-mill "Light On" debuting at #17? Sorry, superstar, but you're no David Archuleta.

Finally, since it's an Aguilera kind of week, let's revisit Christina's 2001 duet with Ricky Martin, the much underrated "Nobody Wants To Be Lonely":

That's right, Ricky—shake that ass, girl!

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "Live Your Life" - T.I. feat. Rihanna *1 week* *airplay gainer*
2. "Whatever You Like" - T.I.
3. "So What" - Pink
4. "Disturbia" - Rihanna
5. "Let It Rock'" - Kevin Rudolf feat. Lil Wayne *sales gainer*
6. "Hot N Cold" - Katy Perry
7. "Keeps Gettin' Better'" - Christina Aguilera *new*
8. "Can't Believe It'" - T-Pain feat. Lil Wayne
9. "Paper Planes'" - M.I.A
10. "Gotta Be Somebody" - Nickelback *new*

The Killers 'Day & Age' Cover Art Revealed

The Killers unveiled the cover art for their third studio album Day & Age today. The LP is out November 25. (Ugh! So far away...)

The artist who designed the cover is Paul Normansell, and the below info is from his official site:
The foundation of my work originates from the relationship between Art and Music. I wanted to try and create a link between colour, shape and sound. My abstract paintings are based on colour studies exploring how colours can stimulate feelings, emotions within a person, and the different meanings each colour has, and its power to evoke a certain response from the viewer.

From experimenting with colour my paintings became more illusional. I tried to create the illusion of movement, stimulating the eye into seeing things which may or may not be there. This seems to be testament to the human inclination to see patterns in randomness like looking for shapes in clouds or finding images within magic-eye pictures. The more you study the image the more you find. Each painting is individual, painted in gloss paint onto aluminium or board, each dot of paint is painted freehand using a brush. I use gloss paint and aluminium because of there reflective qualities and find it helps to enhance the optical effect of my work.
