Why is this Happenin/ NEW SONG 2011/ Produced by Adam Ace Spencer

So by now you may or may not be aware of my passion and love for music. Music is such a universal instrumental means of communication and expression, and although I might not rap like Lil Wayne, sing like Usher or produce music like Will I Am... I don't think I could ever stop doing it. I never started doing it as a means of getting rich and famous, but instead simply because it was fun. It's embedded in my life, its just something that I've always seen and been exposed to and now use as a means of self expression.

A few months before I started The Reel Ace, a number of people began to insist I put my music out instead of continuing to make it and let it basically go to waste. Now I don't think any of my music was going to waste because its generally about a person or situation, a moment in my life that I could relive. My music was and still is, basically a diary. Yea kinda weird but its essentially the truth for anyone, whether you're the producer or fan.

As a fan for example, whenever I hear Coolio's "Gangsta Paradise", I always think of my middle school dances in Wellesley lol... I don't know how much you know about Wellesley but imagine a gymnasium packed with predominately Caucasian upscale preppy suburban young teenagers ( I was friends with everyone pretty much) who are bumping and dancing to Coolio. I can literally visualize my preppy ass class mates, male and female, singing, "As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I take a look at my life and realize there's not much left. Cause I've been blastin' and laughin so long..." LOL I literally laugh when I start to hear this song. And THAT'S the power of music. That's part of the reason I love it so much, it can take you to a different place.

But here's a record I just posted on my Reverbnation Page. Its called "Why is this Happenin". As usual I produced the entire song. I actually started this song a few yeas ago while working for the Boston Globe. About two/ three days ago I picked up my laptop and started going through my old music. "Why is this Happenin" was just calling for me to finish it... so I did. And actually check it out, specially the second verse. Recently I've been opening up more and more, basically sayin,"FUCK IT". I mean, I know some movies are fake but documentaries DO exist... so if I'm gonna be the REEL Ace I mind as well be completely real... with emphasis on the films of course (NEW VIDEO WORK COMING SOON)

During the second verse I speak about the consumption of cannabis in our society, and more specifically, in my personal life. I may have done this in other songs but not remotely close to how clear and direct I was in this... although I did produce a track with G Nellz in 2006 called "Puff Puff Pass" lol... but even then, that song was more about abusing it to be honest. It's not to say this song is meant to be all Pro marijuana, cause its really about the struggles of life and to make it simple, how we wonder why things are how they are.

I think the clear answer is because we make it how it is. Maybe not directly but essentially we are all responsible for the way things are, or at least, how they will be. Right now Cannabis is something that our government clearly knows isn't harmful, but yet they continue to let it harm us (because of the laws) instead of helping us... yeaaa I'm starting to drift off subject, we'll talk about this in more detail in the very near future hah. To simply put it, this is your everyday Joe Smo type of song. No matter how much money or how much of a struggle life can be, we all have those occasional moments when we ask ourselves, why is this happening to me?

Check it out... I got some good feedback from friends and with the new Canon 7D on hand, you might see a video~ THANKS!
