Myself, I finally heard "4 Minutes" on KIIS-FM, Los Angeles' Top 40 station, yesterday. It was one of those instances where I was bored with all the music I had in the car, and thought to myself, I wonder if KIIS is playing "4 Minutes" yet. Lo and behold, it was on when I flipped to the station. Sexy when that happens.
And while we recently celebrated Mariah Carey's 18th #1 here in the States, in the U.K. it's quite another story. Mimi's only had one chart-topper there, her 2000 cover of Phil Collins' schmaltz-fest "Against All Odds" (no doubt urged to that position because of it being a duet with favorited Irish boyband Westlife).
But it might not be curtain's for Madge's U.S. chart-topping hopes just yet. Hard Candy's release next Tuesday will likely add extra downloads of "4 Minutes" from the album to her weaponry, and the same day a CD single featuring remixes will be made available.
Of course, she'll likely need to maintain her lead position on the iTunes download chart to do this, and there are still nine long days till April 29. Tick tock, tick tock...
